Backstop Catching is a professional video coaching platform designed from the ground up for all catchers. Every drill, every module, every lesson was built by coaches who played and coached at the highest levels — and structured specifically around the demands of the catching position.
Whether you're a youth player learning the fundamentals or a college catcher looking to get drafted, our curriculum meets you where you are and builds you into the complete backstop your team needs.

Build the foundation of elite catching
Catch everything and turn borderline pitches into strikes
Stop everything in the dirt
Strong accurate throws every time
Catcher specific stretches to keep you in the line up
Be ready and sharp every pitch to perform at your very best
Be ready for anything the game throws at you
Train your hands and eyes to work together perfectly
Prepare yourself to perform at your highest level
Beginner, intermediate, or advanced — every path is built for where you are right now and where you want to go. Decide you want to be the best you can for you and your team.
Follow our structured drill progressions to continuously build on your ability and talent — each step designed to stack on the last so your development never plateaus.
Use our practice plan templates to structure every rep with purpose — so your training time translates directly into measurable improvement behind the plate.
At Backstop Catching we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We teach every stance setup — including both the traditional two-foot stance and the increasingly popular one-knee stance — because the best catcher is the one who finds what works for their body, their pitcher, and their game situation.
The one-knee stance has changed the way catchers frame pitches and block balls in the dirt. But the two-foot stance still offers advantages in throwing, blocking wide pitches, and controlling the running game. Knowing both — and knowing when to use each — is what separates good catchers from great ones.
Our curriculum walks you through the mechanics, the pros and cons, and the game situations where each stance gives your team the edge. Because at the end of the day, it's not about what looks right — it's about doing everything it takes to help your team win.
